Yorkshire Series 2025 – Double Gender Beach Volleyball Tournament

Join us for the Yorkshire Series, a one-day, double-gender beach volleyball tournament held in Bridlington (North Yorkshire coast). This event is perfect for both upcoming and experienced players looking to compete at a competitive level.

The 2025 series will feature two 3-star tournaments:

Saturday, 17 May 2025 – South Beach, Bridlington

Saturday, 14 June 2025 – South Beach, Bridlington

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Skyball membership (register below).
  • Valid UKBT license for the 2025 season.

Registration Details:

  • Entries are based on a first come, first served basis.
    Links for registration will be shared within our Skyballer community on Spond.
  • Only Skyball members with a valid UKBT license can participate. Registrations that do not comply with these requirements will be rejected.

Yorkshire Series

Event Information

  • Entry List:
    • Yorkshire Series 1: 12 pairs per gender.
    • Yorkshire Series 2: 12 pairs per gender.
    • The event often sells out quickly, so don’t delay your entry.
  • Tournament Seeding:
    Seeding will be based on the National Ranking Seeding Tool.
  • Registration Deadline: Registration closes the Wednesday before each tournament.
  • Cancellation Policy:
    Cancellations will be handled according to the Skyball Terms & Conditions.

Fees

  • £40 per pair (for a 3-star event).

Ranking Points

  • UKBT ranking points will be allocated as per the Ranking Points Schedule.

Prizes

  • Medals and goodie bags for the finalists.

Tournament Format

  • Group Stage: 15, 15, 11 points.
  • Quarterfinals onwards: 21, 21, 15 points (single elimination).
  • Minimum of 3 matches per team.

  • Time: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Cancellation Policy:
More than 7 days before the event: Full refund or transfer to another event (subject to availability).
Less than 7 days, but more than 48 hours before the event: 50% refund.
Less than 48 hours before the event: No refund (except in some cases at the discretion of the organizer).

History of Yorkshire series

Yorkshire Series is the foundation of the club, It evolved from a single 2-a-side beach volleyball competition initiated by a group of friends from Leeds VC Penny and Dave Speers and York VC Pete and Marz who saw it was good and wanted, and took it to the next level introducing for the first time a series of 4 events in 2015. 

In 2016 YS was recognized by Volleyball England and the players were awarded national ranking points for their achievements, 2017 saw YS came into partnership with Active Coast from East Riding of Yorkshire to further promote and grow the sport on the East Coast.  YS operated with VE Beach Tour serving its players four 3* competitions that were topped up with more fun and social events like King and Queen of the Court, a series of junior training and tournaments, multiple free training sessions as well as the everyone’s favourite Bridlington Open Mixed Pairs.  The competition is now part of the UKBT.

The golden sands of our home beach got more and more popular attracting people wanting to compete from around the country and even further, we had players coming from as far as London, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh and the Isle of Man.
